Omaha Street of Dreams 2013 Tour – House #3

Sooo…. For my bestie’s birthday, we celebrated by going to the Street of Dreams Tour.

“Tour upscale custom dream homes at their finest! Gather cutting edge design ideas, be inspired by the latest trends and dream big with us.”

Basically you go tour homes that have sold for 700,000.00 and up.  These houses are stuuuuunning.

Anyhoo!  The party included birthday girl, Grace…

Anna…

Handsome Man…

Little Miss Emma…

And of course, Yours Truly.

Of course I didn’t think about taking pics of the houses until #3 out of 7.

So. Typical.

I decided that I loved the interior of #3 the best because of the AWESOME potential for entertaining in the basement…

And the exterior of #5 was ahhhhhhhh-mazing!

Anyhoo….  Here are some snapshots into House #3!

Beautiful wrap-around porch!  Lovely!

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

This was in the “nursery”….  This would be an awesome piece to re-create. Write a “letter to baby” and write it out on wall art in your own handwriting. How sweet would that be??

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

The chandelier was so very BESTILLMYHEART.  Seriously?? I LURVED!  It had like 3 tiny crystal chandys with the whimsy leafy metal leaves. So very nursery-esque!

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

It had a comfy rocker and a STRIPED POUF.  I know, right?!?!?!  I drooled.

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

Because every baby needs a complete bathroom off their nursery! 😉 lol!

I assume that will be handy as baby gets older.

(Most of the bedrooms had their own bathrooms)

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

Continuing on….  This was kind of a formal sitting room…

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

Loved this awesomely crusty old bin thing turned coffee table.

The accessories in this house were fantastic.  This table, rug and driftwood orb in the top right corner of this pic are just a small snapshot of the new owners taste.  Love.

I think every single house had some version of a built-in mud room.  Loved that!!!

Street of Dreams Tour - House #3

Like I said… The basement was sheer guest-entertaining fantastic-ness!

The bar was gorgeous!!!  The backsplash tile was exceptionally pretty!

Grain Sack Inspired Dresser Makeover by Musings From A French Cottage: Isn’t this fantastic?  It doesn’t look that hard to re-create too!  We’re talking a bit of painter’s tape? I could handle that!! 🙂

PINS of the Week0830-5

{Pinterest}

Love this Small Closet Makeover. I Heart Organizing anchored an IKEA Expedit Shelf into the wall… Used wood dowls (anchored into the wall and then screwed into the Expedit) for the new clothes rods. Two levels of clothes rods adds more space for clothes.  This was for her little men’s closet and it’s fantastic!

PINS of the Week0830-10

This is hysterical.

Uninspired.

Sad title, no?  But I just haven’t felt that inspired lately!

Maybe it’s that small munchkin that seems to demand an insane amount of attention?

aIMG_1847

Maybe it’s that I found myself hooked on Brother vs. Brother on HGTV and watched all the back episodes?  (Funny.  Now I want to go flip a house again. Like now.)  Go team Jonathan! 😉

bro

And maybe I’ve just hit a creative lull? I guess that’s real life, eh?

Anyhoo… Have some projects planned for this week, so stay tuned!!!

Ballard Designs Catalog + Me = Drooling!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

The new Ballard Designs catalog came. Quite simply that means:

Ballard Designs Catalog + Me = Drooling

www.DIYinRealLife.com

If I could blow through all my credit cards in one interior furnishings store, it would be Ballard Designs.  Restoration Hardware IS a close second.  They have a.w.e.s.o.m.e. light fixtures!  But there’s just something about Ballard that is so drool-worthy!

Do they have anything this cheap girl will get?  Nope.  But the inspiration. Oh the inspiration!

Let’s sit down with an adorable baby and an iced coffee and browse through the catalog and highlight the things that made me audibly gasp!  If you’re missing an adorable baby, just admire mine.

IMG_1855

She’s smiling a TON now! Adorbs!!!

The iced coffee however, is a non-negotiable.  Gotta have one to browse through a Ballard  catalogue!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

Okay… Their line of desks/drawers/shelving units?!  I LOOOOVE their white version with zinc countertops!  SO awesome!!!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

The wall pockets are pretty awesome to the organizer in me that loves industrial too!  A perfect mesh!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

I still love that light fixture so much!  I would love that in a dining room over the table!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

This is kinda sheer genius! A light cover that goes over a plain light bulb fixture.  The downside? At $89 you could almost just get a new fixture. 😉

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

Purrrrrrrr!  Lovin’ these wall pockets!  Delicious eye-candy!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

I have ALWAYS been so in love with these lights!  Mmmm!!!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

Again… Me with the lights.  I know… I know!

I DO love the gray/white chevron and surprisingly the use of purple as accent pops of color!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

This time I’m digging that COLOR for the cabinet… The finish on it… Rawr!  I like!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

And last but not least… These stools!

Ballard Designs Catalog Inspirations from www.DIYinRealLife.com

Here’s to hoping you drooled as much as I did!! 😉

Pins of the Week…

Well…  It’s that time again!  I love how as summer winds down again and it gets closer and closer to fall that blogland ups their game and there’s so much more to see on Pinterest!  I’ve noticed it’s getting harder to pick just 10 top favorites again!  There for a while this summer I’d look at my pins for the last week and think, “Hmmmm….  I pinned about 10 things this week!  This will be easy!” 🙂

Not so much the case lately!  That’s okay though!  Quality not quantity, people!!!

So without further ado… Enjoy my picks!

So. True.

Favorite Pins of the Week…

So… I never knew having a baby around would result in so many quotables from Handsome Man.  I guess I should have assumed that since pregnancy resulted in a fair number of them.  My favorite being,

“Me: It’s kinda nice… I don’t really feel like I have body image issues yet… I mean, I don’t really feel super fat, just pregnant.

Handsome Man: Really? ‘Cause if I looked like that, I’d feel fat.”

The odd thing? He was actually trying to compliment me!  Haha!!  Almost as good as several years ago when my cousin told me his sisters were built like sports cars and I was built more like a tank.  He was totally complimenting me too! And I’ve neeeever let him forget that comment!!! 😉  Poor guy!

But my favorite baby quotables from Handsome Man are:

“This is AWESOME!  Now I get to kiss TWO girls every morning!!!”

Wait!  Whaaaaat?

“You know, she looks so much like you when she’s mad!”

Thanks Hon.  You’re sweet.

Anyway… How about a few awesome inspirations for the weekend??  Get ready for my Favorite Pins of the Week!!!

Pinterest07-27-1{Pinterest}

There’s just so much I love about this room!  First of all, the rug?!?!?  DROOL!

Then there’s the happy turquoise wall, which is an awesome color color as it’s happy, yet muted enough to be sophisticated!

And the choice of pattern mixes are awesome!

Pinterest07-27-2

{Pinterest}

Love this idea for a pantry…  You know how I feel about doors like that… and it would be awesome to build something like that if you had the space on an otherwise blank wall.  You’d only loose 12 inches of depth or so and gain a whole lot of storage!

Pinterest07-27-3

{Pinterest}

How’s this for an easy non-wreathy wreath?  Fun for a summertime door, no?  This is the source, but I can’t tell you anything about it ’cause it’s in Turkish!  Whaaaat?  I’m gonna guess pool noodle wrapped in burlap wrapped in rope wrapped with strips of white cloth and words stenciled on the top! 😉

Pinterest07-27-4

This just seems like such a pretty and elegant way to do “place cards!”  And inexpensive too!! Oh So Beautiful Paper showcased these!

So, I couldn’t exactly read the original source on this one… Cause it was in Spanish, and I only know a few words in spanish.  “Si” is “yes.”

“No Habla Espenol” is “I don’t speak spanish.”

And that’s right… I watched Sesame Street as a child.  So I can count to 6.

Boo-Yah!!!

Pinterest60

Not sure what intrigues me more… The awesome potential to recreate this light using unique materials! Wire trash can, perhaps?
